Carl Todd PhD MSc (Sports Med) BSc (Hons) Ost DO CSCS Cert Ed is a registered osteopath, qualified lecturer, published author and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. His academic qualifications include a PhD in orthopaedics and clinical science and a master's degree in sport injury medicine. Carl is consultant osteopath to the Football Association. In 2005 he became the first osteopath to be appointed by the FA to work with the England Football team. To date he has worked 200 international games and with them has attended four FIFA World Cup tournaments and three UEFA European Championships. Since 2009 Carl has acted as consultant osteopath to Chelsea Football Club and to Team GB male and female Basketball at the London 2012 Olympics and for Athletics at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He has previously consulted for many other football clubs as well as for Honda UK and the England Cricket Board. His academic appointments include 10 years (2005-2015) as associate lecturer at the School of Healthcare, Oxford Brookes University, UK. At the time of publication he is Visiting Fellow, Cranfield University; Honorary Lecturer, Swansea University; Researcher, University of Gothenburg. Carl has a keen interest in sports medicine and a wealth of experience in the treatment and management of both elite and amateur level athletes. He is an active practitioner and has designed and delivers his own courses on Functional integrated approaches to managing the athlete. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals and lectures regularly at medical conferences, both nationally and internationally.
